LHS Class of 1979 - 45th Class Reunion – July 5, 2024 Note: in addition to this post, an invitation will be mailed out by early May. Please let us know if your address has changed!
Welcome LHS Class of ‘79! We have planned three events for our 45th class reunion:
1. Main Event: Friday July 5th, 2:00pm - 6:00pm: Ludington Boat Club, 502 Lake Street. The boat club facilities include the clubhouse, patio and outdoor lawn area overlooking PM Lake. We have also rented an event tent that will be setup overlooking the waterfront. Food will be catered by Marcia Sadler providing subs, salads, chips, dip, fruit, veggies, and dessert. Cash bar will be available for all drinks and beverages. Cost: $25/per person.
Please make your checks payable to: LHS Class of 1979, and mail to Peggy Fox, 6271 N Swan Pointe Drive, Ludington, MI 49431. Please send your payment prior to 6/2/24 and provide your email address or mobile phone number in order to receive a reservation confirmation email or text message.
2. Evening Event starts@6:00pm: Immediately following the main event at the Boat Club, head over to The Tiki at the Stearns Hotel, 212 Ludington Ave. Your first drink at the Tiki is on the house; thank you Randy & Gail Bowden!
3. Golf Outing, Friday morning July 5th and/or Saturday morning July 6th: more details to follow depending on interest; please email [email protected] if you are interested in golfing and preference to golf Friday or Saturday
LHS Class of 1979 Legacy Scholarship Fund: We are again seeking support from our gracious Class of 1979 collecting donations for our LHS Class of 1979 Legacy scholarship fund. Please make your scholarship fund donation check out to Class of 1979 Scholarship Fund and mail to Peggy Fox, 6271 N Swan Pointe Dr, Ludington, MI 49431. Again, please provide your email address or a mobile phone number to receive an email or text receipt confirmation of your donation...and thank you for your support!!!
Scholarship Fund and Objective: Our original goal for the Class scholarship fund was to collect enough to provide at least one $500 scholarship to a LHS graduate each year. During our 40th class reunion held in 2019, our Class generated a total of $6,400 for our Class of ‘79 Legacy Scholarship Fund. Because of the generosity, Our Class scholarship committee decided to offer two $500 scholarships each year; one scholarship offered to a girl graduate, and one offered to a boy graduate. Further, our Class scholarship has been specifically directed towards graduates enrolled in a trade school, technical school, or the military. With the help of Mark Boon and the High School Guidance Counselors, Laura Powers and Mike Leikert, the Class of 1979 scholarship committee has been provided with a short list of LHS graduates for consideration each year. The LHS graduates receiving a scholarship from our Class during the past four years are:
Allie Long (Welding Tech); Jeff Garland (Welding Tech); Kristina Larsen (Culinary); Kyle Barnett (Lineman); Lillian Kolb (Cosmetology); Aaron Conger (Wind Turbine Technician); Nessa Fox (Cosmetology); Dominic Moser (Automobile Technician)
The LHS Class of 1979 is Making a Difference! First, there is only one other LHS Class offering a scholarship; the other class is the Class of 1959. Further, our Class has generated interest by other individuals and local companies that have also started scholarship funds specifically targeting graduates entering the trades and technologies. The LHS administrators have recognized our Class of 1979 for jump-starting interest in our community and providing additional scholarships in under-recognized career paths. The Class of ’79 rocks!!!
