A foraging trip to Golden Acre Park, looking for early summer mushrooms and plants. Wheelchair accessible, cafe and toilets on site.
About this Event

We will be meeting in the Golden Acre Car Park (Leeds LS16 9JY) at 10am. Keep an eye out for Kat who has a blonde mullet and glasses - they’ll be at the meeting point early holding a foraging basket! You can find them on instagram here

This session is accessible for all ages and abilities, we will be walking at a slow pace around the park and the route we’ll be taking is wheelchair accessible. There will be time at the end of the walk to have a coffee, nibbles and cake (vegan options available) in Golden Acre Cafe.

This foraging trip will be a chance to spend a peaceful morning with fellow foraging enthusiasts and members of the Leeds LGBTQ+ community.

Please bring a container/bag if we find edible mushrooms or plants you’d like to take any

home. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Bring a water bottle and snacks and if you’d like to draw anything we see, bring along a sketchbook.

Accsessibility:

Golden Acre park is six miles North of Leeds city centre on the A660 between Adel and Bramhope.

There are free car parks off Otley Road and Arthington Road, and there are six disabled parking bays in the car park off the A660.

Motorised scooters are available to hire for free from the cafe. You must be pre-book before 10am on the day, to book call 0113 535 2502 (this is not via Leeds LGBTQ+ Community Consortium, you will be directly booking with Golden Acre Park)

Accessible toilets are available in cafe and in the public toilet block next to cafe. The cafe is wheelchair accessible.

About your facilitator:

Kat (they/them) is a freelance illustrator, full time teacher and forager. Their love of mushrooms has been growing for the past couple of years, taking groups of fellow fungi lovers around various spots in the Leeds area and eating tasty edibles. They’re a printmaker and textile artist, creating themes of eco activism and minimal impact processes.
