Summary: Zines and Activism will be an evening dedicated to zine-making, inspired by LHA’s collection. We will explore specific themes to inspire creativity, but participants are free to go beyond those themes. At the end of the night, we will have the opportunity to share our final products (if desired) and engage in a discussion about the zine-making process.
Host Information: Laura (she/they) is a Puerto Rican art historian and educator currently pursuing a Master's degree in Museum Studies at New York University (NYU). Her research interests include decolonization, abolition, museum education, and contemporary Caribbean art. This fall, she interned with the Special Collections team at the Lesbian Herstory Archives, where she processed, surveyed, and rehoused collections. During her internship, she focused on researching the zine collection, specifically exploring zines related to activism and highlighting them in a sample exhibition.
