Looking to take your 2D art to the next level? This beginner-friendly class is here to help you grow. Whether you work in drawing, painting, photography, or any other two-dimensional medium, this course is designed to build your technical knowledge and give you the tools to create stronger, more compelling artwork.
Each week, we’ll focus on a different aspect of art-making and how to shift your perspective or practice new skills to elevate your work. Topics may include composition, design elements, defining focal points, color theory, using references, or even practical discussions about choosing the right paper, brushes, or mediums for a project. The instructor also welcomes student input and requests for future topics.
At the end of each class, you’ll have the chance to share your work–whether in-progress or finished–for supportive feedback and guidance, so you can keep building confidence and momentum in your creative journey.
Please bring the following with you:
- Notebook
- 1-2 art pieces that you're looking for advice on
About your instructor:
Jessica is classically trained artist, with BFA in concept design and visual development from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has spent over 10 years working as freelance illustrator and fine artist. She now works in multiple mediums including watercolor, acrylics, and water soluble oils, and teaches lots of our drawing and painting classes at "the Cat!"
