About National Aviary:
Feathers and flight: a national delight! Located in Pittsburgh, P.A., the National Aviary is the ONLY independent, non-profit zoo in America dedicated to birds. The Aviary is home to more than 500 animals of 150 species ranging from mighty Steller’s Sea Eagles to colorful starlings; though sloths, bats, and skunks all call the Aviary home, too!
250,000 guests walk through the Aviary each year. Large walk-through habitats allow for up-close, immersive interactions between guests and free-flying or waddling species. Caring staff members work to highlight positive animal relationships as well as important conservation work conducted both at home and abroad. Add-on experiences offer opportunities to meet and even hand-feed species rarely found in zoos. Together with dynamic education and community programming, the Aviary is able to present the highest quality experiences for all ages while inspiring respect for nature through an appreciation of birds in every guest.
The Aviary’s premier event space, The Garden Room, opened in the fall of 2020 with LEED Gold Certified status, emphasizing the Aviary’s focus on accessibility and sustainability features to make for a welcoming venue for all. From wedding celebrations and graduation parties to corporate events and community programming, all rentals further support the Aviary’s mission.
