About this Event
Looking to make the next step to level up your glassblowing? Interested in moving quicker, turning smoother, and navigating new shapes with confidence? This drill-based class will help you improve your foundational skills and move beyond beginner basics. We will work on establishing the right proportions from the start, turning smoothly, moving in and out of the bench efficiently (and with some style), and anticipating the right steps to achieve your desired forms efficiently. This class will largely focus on drills, so expect to go home with new skills and confidence over a plethora of glass.
What to Expect: This class requires previous glassblowing experience. You should feel comfortable gathering, moving through the steps of making a cup, and know how to make a punty. Glassblowing is a team sport, expect to improve both your glassblowing skills as a gaffer (working on your own piece) and as an assistant. This class is drills based, expect to leave with improved skills but not necessarily a lot of objects. There will be room for demonstration requests. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: Previous glassblowing experience required. You should have 1-2 years of experience, and feel comfortable gathering and moving through the steps of making a basic cup. Don’t feel ready yet? Check out our more introductory classes to build your skills. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
