OUR EPIC GAME MUSIC event - right in the heart of West Hollywood! Helix Collective’s 10-piece ensemble performs game music to stunning video of game play and art from the globally popular Assassin’s Creed and Riot Games to revolutionary indie games.
The music was created by a roster of BIPOC and women composers with some of the biggest talents in video game music today.
Attendees will travel through the musical worlds of games like Assassin’s Creed Liberation, set in 18th Century French Louisiana, Telling Lies with a 21st Century FBI agent piecing together a mystery and Ancient China in Bladed Fury. Helix will celebrate with Riot Games’ Hop On - Lunar Revel Cinematic, fight the undead in Zombie Rollerz, unravel the mysteries of the past in Unearthing Mars 2: The Ancient War, save the land of Etheria in Dungeon Defenders, survive the horrors of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and learn how to wield magic in the Stardander School for Witches.
Hosting the Start Screen panel discussion on music for video games is Jennifer Miller Hammel, host of the morning show and the Arcade stream for Classical California KUSC.

HELIX COLLECTIVE
Helix Collective are classical musicians busting out of the traditional mold. From crossover dance music, to storytelling, to film, television, and video game music, the Los Angeles-based ensemble takes the best of classical chamber music and makes it the life of the party.
Variety Magazine praised Helix Collective’s musical range moving from “moody urgency and edgy chamber-music sound” to the “sweetly romantic evoking wide-open spaces.”
Helix “has a little something for everyone: those who like their classics straight up, with a contemporary edge to it, or with populist appeal.” Called “dizzyingly virtuosic with exquisite musicianship and world-class range” by The Free Times and praised for “beyond-the-ordinary programming.”

JENNIFER MILLER HAMMEL
Jennifer Miller Hammel has been performing professionally as a vocalist, recording artist, and voice-over talent for over 20 years. She can be heard on the soundtracks to Riot Games’ League of Legends and Trion Worlds’ online game Rift: Planes of Telara from Fallout and Starfield composer Inon Zur.
In 2017, she shifted her vocal talents from the opera stage to the radio booth when she joined the on-air team at LA’s Classical California KUSC. She can be heard weekdays 6-10am as the
morning show host on Classical KUSC and is the host and producer of the nationally syndicated Opera Show, LA Opera On-Air broadcast series, and Classical California’s on demand video
game music stream called Arcade which was featured in the New York Times and NPR’s All Things Considered. When not telling fascinating musical stories on the radio or learning new arias, she can be found behind a game controller or exploring the beautiful central coast of California.
