About this Event
As the nature of improvisation is creation on-the-fly, students will explore a number of techniques and exercises they can use towards the aspirational goal of character agility: being able to create various living-and-breathing characters - imbued with emotion, perspective, attitude, and physicality - onstage at a moment’s notice depending on what the scene and one’s scene partners need to move the narrative forward. Building on the emotional content work of the previous level, students will work to create characters with driving passions and objectives and learn to react honestly from these strong character choices. This class includes a student showcase. The prerequisites for this class are Level Three at Stomping Ground or equivalent experience with permission from the Training Center Director.
This course will focus on:
- Finding Character Physicality
- Using Personal Spacework
- Finding Your Character’s Obsession
- Exploration of Status and Its Impact on Interactions
- Free Association to Make Quick-Draw Character Choices
- Using Edits to Connect Scenes Into Larger Pieces
This is a 7 week recurring in-person course held Mondays 7-9PM starting Monday, January 10, 2022.. The instructor is Lynsey Hale. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future class. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
