The combined Level 2 & Level 3 class is designed for older swimmers looking to advance their swimming skills and build endurance in a structured and supportive environment. This class focuses on integrating foundational techniques with more complex movements, helping swimmers gain proficiency, stamina, and water safety. Swimmers will work on coordinating arm and leg movements for various strokes, mastering breath control, and transitioning smoothly between different positions in the water.
As swimmers progress, they will refine their stroke techniques, increase their swimming distances, and learn to tread water confidently. The class emphasizes developing the skills needed for more advanced swimming and preparing swimmers for greater challenges.
Class goals include:
1. Propel forward using freestyle and breaststroke arm strokes
2. Glide on the back without assistance
3. Transition into a back float from standing or treading water
4. Kick on the back for a distance of 10 meters
5. Use coordinated arm movements ("tickle, T, touch your legs") on the back to swim 10 meters
6. Practice taking breaths while swimming on the front
7. Swim on the front with proper breathing or floating techniques for 10 meters
8. Jump into the water, resurface into a back float, and swim to safety
9. Swim 25 meters of freestyle with correct breathing and form
10. Swim 25 meters of elementary backstroke with control
11. Swim 25 meters of breaststroke with proper technique
12. Perform a 25-meter dolphin kick to develop core strength
13. Swim 15 meters of butterfly stroke with coordination
