About this Event
The provision of clean, convenient and accessible toilets for public use is an important public health issue. It is also an equalities issue as many people need to plan their activities around the availability of toilets.
Free toilet provision in public spaces is a basic necessity for a socially inclusive society. But there is no legal requirement for local authorities to provide or run public toilets and, in times of austerity, local councils have been closing public toilets. Some have been seeking alternative ways to provide facilities e.g. Bristol’s community toilet scheme. At this event, we will learn about and discuss the provision of toilets for public use.
