
About the exhibition
The exhibition celebrates a century of Diwali correspondence showcasing a vibrant archive of artefacts—from handwritten notes to printed cards—that reveal how people have used the language of festivity to express hope unity and a sense of bonding across generations and geographies. These messages reflect the evolving concerns of their times addressing themes such as the freedom struggle national integration economic progress social harmony and mutual cooperation.
On display will be postcards and letters in various Indian languages postage stamps and greeting cards covering the period from 1898 to 2022 drawn from across the Indian Subcontinent and beyond.
About the curator
The exhibition is curated by Ankita Pandey. She is the author of Aasakti se Virakti Tak: Odia Mahabharat ki Chuninda Kahaniyan (From Devotion to Detachment: Select Stories from the Odia Mahabharata) published in 2022 by Vani Prakashan New Delhi.
