The Academy of Music Theatre is excited to present Letters Aloud: Thanks, But No Thanks; The Greatest Rejection Letters of All Time on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 7:30 pm. This compelling show offers a humorous and heartwarming exploration of rejection through a collection of legendary letters. The performance features memorable correspondences from notable figures such as Stephen King, who received his first rejection from “Spacemen Magazine”; Andy Warhol, whose artwork was nearly discarded; Gertrude Stein, facing her own repetitive critiques; Sidney Poitier, who once requested $100 from President Franklin Roosevelt (and was turned down); and a 17-year-old college applicant who rejected her rejection letter from Duke University.Letters Aloud brings to life the often-overlooked art of personal correspondence, showcasing how perseverance and humor can transform setbacks into success stories. The show celebrates the resilience of these individuals, demonstrating the power of hope and determination in the face of adversity.
Tickets for the general public are priced at $22.00 ($27.43 after fees) and can be purchased online, in person, or over the phone.
