Remote learning looked a little different back in 1930 at Newry Station, and for people all over remote parts of Western Australia. Before the internet, the School of the Air was the way to go. Thanks to Alfred Traeger, kids all over Australia have been able to attend school from remote, and isolated regional Australia for quite some time.Join us for the first of our 'Let's Talk' Australian Heritage Festival events to hear how the Traeger Pedal Radio influenced life in the bush - particularly with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of the Air. You'll also hear how radio communications have evolved over time, as told by members of the Northern Corridor Radio Group - the largest and most active amateur radio group in Perth!
These talk are free to attend, but bookings are strongly recommend as places are limited. You can secure your spot by calling the Museum on 9209 6040 or email us at [email protected]
