The Fall 2022 theme: “Speculative Women, Future Bodies”
Join the conversations around 5 books of feminist science fiction!
Science Fiction has allowed many women to re-imagine their place in society, as a hypothetical future can challenge universal ‘truths’ about gender, race, and sexuality. This newly timely theme explores many such futures through pivotal works from the 1970s to the present that continue to confront our cultural assumptions and collective past. Even if you're not a regular reader of Science Fiction, these titles are sure to spark some fascinating conversations, so join in! In-person and virtual options will be available.
The program is open to the public and anyone can participate. Each session features a scholarly lecture followed by casual, small-group discussion that week’s title. Individual and full sets of books may be borrowed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Just visit the front desk of OCU's Dulaney-Browne Library.
