A Three-Part Series for Teens & Parents of Teens of the Bay Area
About this Event

Teens and parents of teens are invited to our three-part series exploring important topics affecting Jewish teens. Join us for one or all three sessions, each exploring timely community issues:

  • Session 1: learn best practices for preventing and responding to antisemitic incidents, both in-person and online
  • Session 2: to support teens as they think and dream about their future college life, we will get a glimpse into what is happening on campuses and what support looks like for Jewish students today
  • Session 3: hear from a Holocaust survivor's harrowing journey and liberation in an intimate, age-appropriate gathering called zikaron b'salon (remembering from the living room)

Sessions will be hosted by professionals from the JCC East Bay, Anti-Defamation League, and Berkeley Hillel, as well as UC Berkeley students. Check out the dates and session topics below for more information, and register below to sign up for 1, 2, or all 3 sessions. Limited spots available.

Sunday, January 28: Navigating Conversations on Antisemitism

Join us as we learn about the historical roots of antisemitism and how it shows up in school and online. Facilitated by the Anti-Defamation League, the session will support teens and parents with suggestions and tools for responding to antisemitic incidents and provide space to discuss concerns and experiences within our community and reflect on how we can better support our families and teens.

Sunday, March 3: Understanding Jewish Life on School Campuses

What can it look like to be Jewish on school campuses? How are academic institutions helping to support and uplift Jewish life? What organizations and resources exist to support Jewish students, whether they are interested in fighting food insecurity on campus, attending Shabbat dinners, looking for scholarships to reduce student loan debt, or need to report antisemitism? Let's find out by asking our questions to Berkeley Hillel staff and college students and explore together what changes we can make to support Jewish students at every stage.

Sunday, May 5: Remembering the Holocaust | Zikaron B'Salon

Zikaron BaSalon ("Remembrances in the Living Room") is a special way to commemorate the Holocaust. Taking place annually in thousands of private living rooms and public settings, it passes the torch from official, large-scale remembrance ceremonies to conversations and stories told in more intimate, meaningful gatherings.

All are welcome to join this special gathering to hear and honor the Holocaust story of one of our community members. This event will include opportunities to reflect, ask questions, and ground our awareness and education about the Holocaust in a warm and supportive community, with an age-appropriate lens.

May the memories of all lost in the Holocaust forever be a blessing.
