About this Event

Let's Talk About: Dr Aafia Siddiqui, with Clive Stafford Smith

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking event where we discuss the wrongful conviction of Dr Aafia Siddiqui with Clive Stafford Smith - who is Dr Aafia's lawyer - and a representative from CAGE, who will live stream their talks with us on the day. We will also be watching 'My Sister, Aafia', a short documentary featuring Dr Fowzia Siddiqui. Guests will also have the opportunity to write a personal message of solidarity to Dr Aafia in a guestbook that Clive will present to her on his next visit to the US.

Who is Dr Aafia?

Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist and mother of three, is currently serving an 86-year sentence in Texas for attempted M**der and assault on US officials. Before her conviction, she suffered extreme abuse and torture at a military detention centre in Bagram, held by the US government who insist on denying having ever imprisoned her. Dr Aafia was the only woman at the Pr*son and was known only as 'Prisoner 650.'

Dr Aafia Siddiqui's story has naturally sparked international attention, and this event provides a platform to explore her situation, the impact it has had, and the broader implications.

Whether you are familiar with the case or seeking to learn more, this event offers a unique opportunity to engage in an open dialogue. Join us as we address misconceptions and uncover the truth around Dr Aafia Siddiqui's story and gain a deeper understanding of the issues at hand.
