About this Event

Let’s Make Films. It’s a simple idea. Gather a bunch of like-minds and create a network of people who want to;

1. Make film.

2. Learn how to make better films.

Whether you are working on a zero budget “run-n-gun”, or a multi-million-dollar epic while harbouring those hidden desires to make your own visions, you’ll fit in.

Regular gatherings will bring together a number of opportunities for filmmakers. One of our key aims is to help support better practice in filmmaking. There will be the opportunities for free "taster" events. These may then lead to demo's, masterclasses, and workshops either via us, or via the people and companies we know. The aim is to learn about multiple aspects of filmmaking, even if you specialise in one.

- Taster sessions of higher concepts in film making

- Screenings with Crew Interviews

- External Screenings for Discussion

There will also be the regular filmmaking event activities such as:

- Networking

- Pitching Slots

- Film Challenges

- Script Challenges

Many of us/you will have made a short film, documentary, or been involved with a feature. We all know there is a need to make networks and find crews. Networking is key in the industry, be that pre-production, or distribution and marketing, so come along in the confidence that you’ll be with like minds. Taster sessions are aimed to be presentations about higher end techniques that may allow you to improve your production values. Equally it might help you communicate or understand a multi-departmental work flow. Most will have pointers to further training opportunities for those with greater interest in the subject.

Our event is being held at Framestore in London. They have kindly provided space for us to host in their wonderful rooftop space at their Chancery Lane offices, so a massive thank you to them for their help.

Where possible, we’ll aim to keep all event tickets free or at the smallest price possible of £3 (the £0.96 is Eventbrite). This is possible because of the generous support of event sponsors. When required, the fee covers light refreshments and any venue staffing (the organisers take no £s). Sponsors and speakers are key to these events so for that reason we are going to ask you to look up the sponsors online and give them a like on their social media. They are helping us and you, so please return the favour.

PLEASE NOTE

The tickets for the event need to be booked in advance to allow security pass through to the roof top venue. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Bookings close approximately 24 hours before the event. Unfortunately, for this event there can be NO walk-ins on the day (ie. building security). Get the ticket quick... and please, if you can't make it after booking, let us know so we can free up the ticket.

Please note - the event time has changed and needs to be brought forward 30 mins to start at 6:30pm and finish at 8: 40-45pm. Networking can continue at a local pub if desired. However, due to the venue hanges we have to finish slightly earlier.

Many of us have been to film events in the past, but it's rare to meet writers, actors, directors, virtual production technicians, VFX artists, sound mixers, colourists etc, all in the same room.

Get your creative juices flowing and meet people across the full spectrum of filmmaking, from pre-production to post-production.

This months session will be a a series of practical show and tells, exploring how indie filmmakers can use the new AI tools, VFX, and VP tools for filmmaking.

The session will explore the practical ways in which virtual production is disrupting filmmaking and the opportunities that AI brings to the table. We hope to dispel some of the fear and hyperbole that is being associated to these new techniques and tools.

Attendees will gain insights into the benefits of using AI in the filmmaking process, including, enhanced productivity and creativity, improved cost-effectiveness, and smart production techniques. From pre-production to post-production, AI technologies are already being used by filmmakers and studios to push the boundaries of what's possible on the big and small screen.
