Detective Nicole Mincey, Cumberland County Sherrif's Department, and Shelby Thompson, Lived Experience Expert & Operations Manager at Gate Beautiful.
SSGT Mincey serves as the Senior Sergeant in the Special Investigations Unit at the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, specializing in Human Trafficking Investigations. With over two decades of law enforcement experience, SSGT Mincey brings unmatched expertise and dedication to identifying, investigating, and combatting trafficking crimes in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area.
Dedicated to protecting the vulnerable and ensuring accountability, SSGT Mincey combines extensive investigative experience with a compassionate approach to law enforcement, making a lasting difference in the fight against human trafficking.
Shelby Thompson is a dedicated advocate and Lived-Experience Expert committed to empowering trafficking survivors and combating human trafficking across Cumberland County and surrounding areas. With a focus on victim-centered and trauma-informed care, she provides comprehensive services including Case Management, Advocacy, and Long-Term Restorative Planning to support survivors on their journey toward healing and independence.
Leveraging her lived experience, Shelby is passionate about educating the public, dispelling myths surrounding trafficking, and inspiring meaningful change. She speaks with compassion and authority, fostering understanding while mentoring survivors to rediscover their resilience and worth.
Shelby encourages survivors to trust in God’s guidance, instilling hope and a belief in their ability to overcome challenges. Her holistic approach bridges advocacy, education, and empowerment, solidifying her as a vital force in the fight against human trafficking.
