The Portage County Historical Society is proud to announce a special Memorial Day event: "Lest We Forget - A Memorial Day Tour of Forest Cemetery." This poignant tour, scheduled for Memorial Day, May 27th, 2024, at 3:00 PM, will pay tribute to those who served our nation by exploring the veteran's grave sites at Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.This tour has been generously sponsored by Secure Heritage Insurance, veteran-owned and operated for 27 years.
The tour, led by Jen Brilowski, creator of the "Point of the Past" Facebook page and an esteemed member of the Portage County Historical Society, will offer participants a unique opportunity to learn about the rich military history of the area and the individuals who made profound sacrifices in service to their country.
During the tour, attendees will have the chance to hear captivating stories about the lives and experiences of the veterans laid to rest at Forest Cemetery. From tales of bravery on the battlefield to the lasting impact of their service on the community, each narrative offers a glimpse into the profound legacy of these remarkable individuals.
The "Lest We Forget - A Memorial Day Tour of Forest Cemetery" is open to the public, and all are invited to attend and pay their respects to our nation's heroes. Tickets are priced at $30 for Portage County Historical Society members and $35 for non-members. Veterans and active-duty military receive a discounted rate of $25 per ticket.
