About this Event

The Psychology department is delighted to announce that for our biannual Sherman Lecture on learning, we will welcome Emily Hanford, a senior correspondent and producer at American Public Media Reports and the host of the award-winning, groundbreaking investigative podcast , which has generated widespread public interest in the “science of reading" and is changing how kids are taught to read nationwide. Sold a Story was one of the most-shared shows on Apple Podcasts in 2023 and one of Time Magazine’s top podcasts of the year.

In this lecture, Emily will share her thoughts on why the podcast has had such a remarkable impact on people’s lives and public policy, what she’s learned from the experience, and what educators, policymakers, and researchers can learn as well.

The lecture will be held Friday, October 11th at 12pm in the ICC Auditorium on the main campus, and will be followed by a reception at the ICC at 1 pm.Please save the date, and please disseminate to your colleagues!
