Their contrasting upbringing and the hand fate deals them is fast-moving, perceptive and ultimately tragic.The play version has a different ending to the musical version, this stripped back telling of the much-loved story is full of surprises, joyous and uplifting, but deeply heart rending, as it hurtles towards its tragic end.
