About this Event
With a rare focus on Trinity Choir’s countertenor, tenor, and bass voices, this performance will lead the audience through the Lenten journey, from Ash Wednesday’s reminders of human mortality to the redemption of Christ’s death on the cross.
Conducted by Thomas McCargar, the choir will raise their voices in remorse, with settings of The Lamentations of Jeremiah by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd. Other works will grapple with loss and grief, including Jonathan Woody’s setting of When David Heard – a father’s agonized outcry over the death of his son. Finally, each Lamentation will be paired with one of John Sheppard’s three beautiful settings of In manus tuas, which declare that “you have redeemed me, O Lord, O God of truth.”
Registration for this free event is highly recommended as seating is limited.
We suggest arriving 45 minutes before start time. Admission is first-come, first-served, with ticket holders receiving priority (although not guaranteed entrance if the venue reaches capacity).
