Weโ€™ll begin our wandering from Glenbrook station, starting off with a short walk through the quiet streets of Glenbrook to reach the beautiful Chalmerโ€™s Lookout, with stunning views from over 200m of elevation. Weโ€™ll then pass another couple of lookouts, before continuing further into the bush. After crossing the fittingly named Explorerโ€™s Road, weโ€™ll descend towards Tunnel Gully and then follow alongside it.

Soon weโ€™ll be briefly reminded of civilisation again, passing under the Great Western Highway and climbing the stairs to the Quarry Lookout. Continuing on, we will pass by what was once a station on the Lapstone Zig Zag rail line in the nineteenth century, and end up at Siding lookout. This spot has a great view of the tall arches of the Knapsack Viaduct, which weโ€™ll then have a steep descent to cross under.

At the bottom, after crossing Knapsack Gully, we begin a challenging steep uphill section with seemingly endless stairs. The effort is worth it though, as at the top of the incline is Elizabeth lookout, where we can enjoy amazing views of Sydneyโ€™s Western Suburbs and even the faint outline of the CBD on the horizon. After passing yet another lookout weโ€™ll finally reach Lennox Bridge, the oldest stone bridge in mainland Australia. From here, weโ€™ll walk another few kilometres to make it back to Glenbrook station, finishing our adventure.
