Session Summary:
Emma-Jane Houghton will lead a lunchtime seminar discussion to explore how clients might deliver more effective outcomes for major projects.
The talk will explore the effectiveness of the current client model in delivering outcomes and benefits in complex projects. Working with the Major Projects Association (MPA) and International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM), Emma-Jane will provide a first look into the insights gathered from leading industry experts. The seminar will provide an opportunity to share your insights and contribute to the ongoing research. This work builds on her previous articles "Let's Harness the Power of the Incomplete Client” and “Engineering Rebellion”.
About the Speaker:
Emma-Jane Houghton is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton Business School who brings her senior executive expertise to academia from the perspective of commercial strategies on complex major projects. She is an experienced Commercial Director and a highly experienced infrastructure and built environment specialist. She has held senior positions in Cabinet Office as well as Big Four consultancy and a range of advisory leadership roles. Emma-Jane is a chartered surveyor, Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and a Lt Col in the Engineering and Logistics Staff Corps. Emma-Jane is passionate about creating a more modern, productive, and sustainable construction industry, drawing on her extensive background and professional accomplishments in major project and programme delivery with clients in both the private and public sector. As well as leading the study into clienting, she is supporting the Major Projects Leadership Academy to redesign their commercial package to update and improve it for the future.
