The history of the Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson from its opening in 1919 to today. Dive into Hotel Congress’ history, including the 1934 fire that led to the capture of John Dillinger in Tucson, Arizona, the iconic neon sign, the charming Southwest artwork that decorates the building’s walls, Tucson’s favorite bartender, Tiger, and our Centennial celebration in 2018 & 2019.

While the Hotel Congress has been a Tucson landmark since its opening in 1919, it has also been the cultural and artistic hub of the city since the Oserans purchased the hotel in 1985.

At the time, downtown Tucson had seen its glory days come and go. The hotel became the epicenter of a new creative scene that would bring new energy and revitalize downtown. The hotel is now well known for its impressive collection of art as well as its unshakable commitment to support the local creative community as a whole. Please find additional information below on some of the more notable art that can be found around the hotel property by both locally known and nationally renowned artists. But don’t stop there, art is alive around every corner of the hotel, so relax, enjoy, and let the art of Tucson inspire you.

The Historic Hotel Congress is an eclectic urban resort destination providing an immersive entertainment experience through art, music, and food forever connected to the vibrant history of Tucson, Arizona.

LEIGH LESHO

Folk-inspired singer-songwriter Leigh Lesho is a storyteller and a visionary, leading us to find and treasure our voice, our path, and our joy in a world riddled with suffering. Born of a winding cosmic calling and a deep reverence for sound as a link to the divine, her music is not breathtaking, but giving, casting healing spells and bringing its listeners to life. Encompassing a wide range of genres from folk-rock to americana and alt-country and a voice that demands attention, Leigh’s lyric-driven work is reminiscent of legends like Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Baez, and her muse, Tori Amos. The haunting melodies of the desert invoke a familiar backdrop where acoustic meets electric and music meets eternal.
