Legend Grand Prix is the most exciting jiu-jitsu event in the north! We are heading into our second year with even more enthusiasm and a larger scale as we host this year's event at the Ovintiv Events Center in Dawson Creek. Our mission remains the same: create an atmosphere of inclusivity while encouraging a positive competitive environment for all ages and levels of development. Join us for a day of submissions, sweeps, and skill as jiu-jitsu athletes face off. See you on the mat!
About Jiu-jitsu:
Brazilian jiu-jitsu focuses on getting an opponent to the ground in order to neutralize possible strength or size advantages through ground fighting techniques, as well as submission holds involving joint locks and chokeholds. Physical strength can be offset or enhanced on the ground through proper grappling techniques.
About Legend Martial Arts Academy:
Legend Martial Arts Academy started as a small hobby gym in 2022. Within its first month, it rapidly grew to 50 members. Shortly after, it moved locations to somewhere with more square footage. Legend now boasts 3000 square feet of training space, peaking at 150 members in 2024. The gym, though competitive, is a family space. Often, entire families watch their kids practice and learn martial arts. The family atmosphere is essential to the gym and all its members. With a safe, clean, and supportive environment, we at Legend are proud to serve the community of Dawson Creek.
