Experience the Kobudo from the linieage of the Great Samurai Miyamoto Musashi
This event is designed for all skill levels, whether you are a beginner in martial arts or an experienced practitioner. Learn and practice techniques(katas) and modalities passed on for generations in the Kobudo art of Kenjutsu.
Experience an intensive 8 hours, training the Samurai way. Or join us for specific modalities that interest you. You will experience the techniques and training styles of multiple modalities taught by the Niten Institute. Training alonside novice and experienced students, you will experience Kobudo like never before.
What is Kobudo?
Kobudo means "Old Martial Path" referring to the warrior tradition of the Samurai. Kobudo conists of a variety of schools that teach the techniques of many different weapons used by the Samurai.
In this event you will experience Kobudo from the following schools:
Kenjutsu, Jojutsu, Iaijutsu, Niten Ichi Ryu, and Goshinjutsu
About Sensei Jorge Kishikawa
Sensei Jorge Kishikawa is the founder of the Niten Institute. He follows in the footsteps of a long and historic linieage, being the 10th generation Shihan (official representative) and Menkyo Kaiden (Grand Master) of Niten Ichi Ryu.
Sensei has over half a century of profound expereience in Kenjutsu and Samurai tradition and culture. His teaching style bridges ancient wisdom with modern application. He ensures that this workshop will be both exciting and profoundly insightful in the traditions of the Samurai.
Sensei Kishikawa has also achieved Shidosha (official teacher of the style) level in several other traditional martial art schools created by Samurais, such as:
- Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu from Miyamoto Musashi, writer of the Book of Five Rings
- Suio Ryu Iai Kenpo made famous by the graphic novel Lone Wolf and Cub
- Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu from Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi
- Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu, created by Iizasa Choisai Ienao 700 years ago
- Ishin Ryu Kusarigamajutsu (a style of chain and sickle)
- Ikkaku Ryu Jittejutsu

Introducing Sensei Yoshimitsu Kishikawa
Sensei Yoshimitsu is the youngest practitioner to achieve Shihan in the Niten Institute. Mastering a variety of schools, it is a great honor to have him for the first time in the USA.
