November's event features Emeritus Professor of Mathematics Education Dr. Larry Cambell, who after retirement, continued his passion with AfterMath Enterprises, where he speaks regularly and has authored several books.Join Dr. Campbell as he relives his 2016 “Adventure of a Lifetime: A 7-week journey by car, exploring the entire Missouri River from its source in Three Forks, MT all the way down to where it empties into the Mississippi near St. Louis. See the scenery, visit the cities, hear the stories (including Lewis & Clark adventures) and learn more about what is arguably the most interesting and beautiful river in the world – and its people!
Bio:
Dr. Larry Campbell, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics Education at Missouri State University, spent his career in mathematics and mathematics education, serving 17 years at MSU and 17 years at College of the Ozarks, where he twice chaired the Math Department. A recipient of multiple awards for teaching, research and service—including MSU’s University Award for Teaching and recognition as a University Fellow in Teaching—he has also led workshops and motivational programs for schools and community groups across Missouri and the Midwest. Now retired from MSU, he operates AfterMath Enterprises, LLC, through which he continues to share his passions via talks, programs, workshops and his Weekly Photo/Sharing email. He has written a bi-weekly educational column for the Springfield News-Leader and, in 2016, spent seven weeks following the Missouri River from start to finish—a journey he calls his “adventure of a lifetime.”
