About this Event
Join our April speaker, Don Blake, in a discussion about critical thinking about beer & beer judging, a brief review of beer styles and origins, and a very brief overview of the Beer Judge Certification Program. We will go over the sensory aspects of beer, key ingredients and their influence on beer, and how these ingredients influence the development of certain beer styles.
Don Blake has been home brewing since 1993. After moving to Colorado in 1995, Don quickly met Left Hand Brewing and has been a good friend ever since. After teaching several homebrewing classes at Left Hand, he was instrumental in the founding of the Indian Peaks Alers Homebrew Club and served as president for several years. He has been an active member of the Beer Judge Certification Program since 2008, holds the rank of Grand Master III, and serves as Exam Director. Don judges regularly at the Great American Beer Festival and has organized the Denver regional judging site of the National Homebrew Competition since 2012.
