About this Event

Humanity has gone to the stars and found them crowded with other forms of life and other sentient species. Science and technology have advanced vastly over the present day – but the essential nature of humanity is unchanged. Life continues as it does now, only spread out over the sea of stars. A mighty Imperium unites thousands of worlds under a single rule, but it is beset by enemies both internal and external. The Imperium commands the space between the stars, ensuring that civilisation endures and trade continues.

Megacorporations and feudal lords conduct the bulk of this trade but there will always be a place for hardy Travellers and adventurers on the fringes of Charted Space, dealing in strange goods and smuggled cargoes, doing whatever they can to make a Credit. In the Charted Space universe, players take on the roles of tramp traders and mercenaries, wandering the galaxy in search of profit and adventure. Come along and play the game that supposedly inspired Firefly.

This game is set up as a two-shot due to the unique system of character creation in Travellers. Please note the £15 ticket covers both sessions. Players should be available for both sessions.

Session One
Travellers is known for its unique character creation- a system that allows you to build your character organically through choices and dice rolls- and yes you can die during character creation! Instead of choosing a class and various skills or abilities, in Traveller you start off as a bright-eyed 18 year old with the whole universe at your feet. You will then decide what kind of career you might want to pursue and then watch as your Traveller’s life unfolds – very possibly in a completely different direction! When you have finished this process, you will be ready for play with a Traveller who has history and a full career (successful or otherwise) behind them. They will now be ready for the next phase of their life, one full of excitement and adventure...

Session Two

We embark on our adventure where you'll journey through star systems, engaging in exploration, ground and space battles, and interstellar trading. This session will be largely influenced by the outcomes of session one so who knows what story might unfold- but I guarantee it'll include high speed space battles, journeys to far off planets and a lot of fun!

Traveller is one of the early role playing systems, first published in 1977, and a classic for science fiction roleplaying games. This game is suitable for beginners- it will be presumed all players are new to the RPG system and the rules will be introduced before play. All participants will be sent guidance in advance and characters will be made in session one. Players should be available for both sessions.

Warning this game may include violence and other themes that may be unsettling. Inappropriate behaviour will result in your removal from the premises. A safeguarding system will be in place that players can use, without judgment, to pause and redirect play during the game.
