About this Event
Leeds Coop Outreach — The Humane League (LARA)
Looking for a way to take action for farmed animals? Join me for this outreach event to raise awareness of chicken welfare!
If you are passionate about this cause, I would love for you to join me and other THL volunteers for this public outreach event which is all about raising awareness of factory farmed chickens, and encouraging Co-op members to vote for improved chicken welfare at their next AGM.
What the event will involve:
We are starting by meeting outside the Kingsdown Co-op at 13:00—I can provide my number once you sign up to come along and you can call me if you get lost! When everyone arrives I will introduce myself and tell you a bit more about THL UK and why we are targeting Co-op.
We will have leaflets to hand out, and screens showing footage from within the farms that supply Co-op with their chickens, to help educate their customers and members of the public of what happens to a chicken before it arrives on a supermarket shelf.
Whilst this event is primarily focussed on Co-op, and the awful conditions that the chicken breed that they pay to be bred. Volunteers are free to speak about veganism and advocate that people who disagree with what we're showing can stop their own contribution by not paying for animal products.
Important: Unlike some THL events, this is not a protest. We are aiming for very nice vibes and positive discussion, encouraging members to consider supporting our campaign. So please bring your friendliest faces!
At the end we can go grab some vegan food together if people are up for it. Probably at Doner Summer in Leeds, and THL have told me they're able to contribute some money towards us doing so!
This event is open to anyone who believes in our mission: to end the abuse of all animals raised for food. You do not need to be a current volunteer or affiliated with THL UK in any way, everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be vegan to attend this event.
We’ve picked a site we believe to be accessible for wheelchair users but if you would like to double check your accessibility needs please contact the organiser, who will be happy to help.
RSVP for a "free ticket" to receive full details and let me know you’re coming.
Everyone is welcome to attend our events, regardless of their race, sex, age, religion, disability, neurodiversity, orientation, gender identity or expression.
PLEASE NOTE: By signing up to this event you agree to abide by our Safer Spaces policy at all times. We will not tolerate any forms of abuse or disrespect, and you will be asked to leave if you violate any of our event policies.
We may take photos at this event which go on to be used in the promotion of our Volunteering Programme, or other events. Please inform the Organiser if you wish to be removed from photos.
