📚 Lecture: “Ethnoecology: How Myths Shape Our Perceptions of Nature”

🎤 Speaker: Mona Shomali

Ever wondered why certain communities, cultures, or countries are more progressive in their environmental policies while others fall short? Join us for a fascinating exploration of how our mythologies and cultures drive behaviors, policies, and systems of governance around sustainability.

In this enlightening lecture, Mona Shomali will compare and contrast different mythologies and the types of natural resource management they have inspired. Prepare to engage with the concept of ethnoecology as Mona makes this important subject come alive!

Mona Shomali has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at various New York universities, including PACE, NYU, and The New School, focusing on the intersection of culture and natural resource management. With experience working with indigenous communities in the Amazon, she has advocated for resource and human rights at the Inter American Court of Human Rights. Her climate fiction work, "WATER MAMAS," is inspired by her time with the Macushi tribe.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from the dynamic Mona Shomali!
