Lecture: Unthinking Eurocentrism: Reading For/Against Power
Speaker: Dr. Lauren Horst

For centuries, Europe has positioned itself at the center of world history, world literature, world culture, and the world-economic system. For guidance on how we might unthink this Eurocentrism and discover new ways of imagining the world, this lecture looks to African literature. How might this literature help us to unthink Eurocentrism and other similarly false universalisms?

Dr. Lauren Horst is a literary scholar and Lecturer at Columbia University. Her research focuses on African and postcolonial literatures, and their connection to development institutions such as the World Bank and IMF.

Immerse yourself in this captivating lecture and discussion with Dr. Lauren Horst as we begin to step outside Eurocentrism.
