📚 Lecture: “Music & Mathematics: From Sound Vibration to Emotion n”
🎤 Speaker: Professor Daniel Rynerson
Join us for a captivating evening where music and mathematics intertwine with Professor Daniel Rynerson in a unique experience that blends lecture and live performance. Discover how music, as a phenomenon of sound vibration, can profoundly influence our emotional states.
In this engaging session, we’ll explore fundamental principles of music theory, including the fascinating mathematics behind sound and how the 432Hz tuning, set by the ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras, aligns with our biological rhythms. Understand how these mathematically divided frequencies can impact our central nervous system and emotional well-being.
Daniel will also perform throughout the evening, showcasing both piano and electric bass guitar to illustrate various musical elements such as rhythm, harmony, tempo, and dissonance through his psychedelic progressive rock project, SelfPerpetual.
A Professor of Psychology at Montclair State University, Daniel Martin Rynerson combines nearly 20 years of musical experience with his academic focus in Cognitive Science and Behavioral Neuroscience. His interdisciplinary approach will leave you with a new appreciation for the connection between music and emotion.
