📚 Lecture: "Mad Love: Romance, Rivalry and Creativity"
🎤 Speaker: JR Pepper
Join us for a fascinating evening with JR Pepper as we explore the intricate interplay between love and art in "Mad Love: Art and Partnership." Love, often celebrated as a many-splendored thing, plays a pivotal role in the creation of exceptional artwork and transformative artistic movements.
In this engaging lecture, JR Pepper will delve into the passionate, volatile relationships of iconic artists such as Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, as well as the many muses of Max Ernst. Through their partnerships—filled with rivalry, obsession, and creativity—these couples not only produced art but also reshaped the very landscape of the art world.
A self-described "professional eccentric," JR Pepper is an adjunct professor of art history at CUNY Brooklyn College, with a specialization in Surrealism and spirit photography. Her work has been featured in various gallery shows and publications. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insight into the powerful connections that fuel artistic innovation!
