ποΈ Lecture: "Fact, Fiction, Folklore: The Seasons Explained"
π¨βπ« Speaker: Dr. Moiya McTier
Themes: scientific Β· mythological Β· engaging
The grass is getting greener, the air holds a little less chill, and the spring peepers are a-peepin! While itβs easy to recognize the changing of the seasons, the reasons behind them are far less obvious. Of course, that never stopped ancient humans from trying to explain it! Join astrophysicist and folklorist Dr. Moiya McTier as she explores both the mythic and scientific reasons for the seasons, blending astronomy with the rich storytelling traditions of our ancestors.
Dr. Moiya McTier is an astrophysicist, folklorist, and science communicator based in NYC. A graduate of Harvard and Columbia, she has given hundreds of science talks worldwide, consulted on projects with Disney, and authored THE MILKY WAY: An Autobiography of Our Galaxy, which was named a best book of 2022 by Publishers Weekly. She also hosts the podcast Pale Blue Pod.
Donβt miss this chance to learn and connect in a relaxed, engaging atmosphere. π»
