Deep below the tranquil waters of The Wash are the remains of a natural cataclysm nearly half a billion years old - a giant super-volcano.
In our first lecture of 2026, Dr Tim Pharaoh, an Honorary Research Associate at the British Geological Survey, will explain the evidence of this event from deep geological investigations below Lincolnshire, its impact on early life on Earth during the Ordovician geological period, and how our world has since been re-shaped by plate tectonics and continental drift.
