Pseudomedical Psychedelia: Examining the Rhetoric of "Nootropic" Supplements with Professor Kate Maddalena from the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information & Technology
This talk will describe a trend in psychotropic substances like psilocybin, ketamine, and amphetamines, all of which are touted as “nootropic” drugs on social media and in marketing materials. Learn about two examples of gendered framings of such substances—one in "bromeopathic" grind culture and the other in the mommy-blogger world.
