Thursday, January 16, 6:30pm - South Portland Historical Society historian Matthew Christoforo will present “Defending Casco Bay During WWII,” in the Casco Bay room of the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road.During World War II, Portland was the departure point for North Atlantic convoys transporting supplies to our European allies. Portland Harbor and Casco Bay were heavily defended to protect naval infrastructure and the bustling Liberty ship yards.
This lecture is free for current members of the South Portland Historical Society; $20 for non-members. A one-year membership is $25 and can be purchased at the door. Please arrive early if you plan to join or renew your membership at the event. Members who are renewing will speed the check-in process by bringing a check made out to South Portland Historical Society.
