We invite you to the lecture of the educational program FLASH ART Gallery on the graphics of Western European Modernism!Ksenia Remezova - curator of the Graphic Gallery, art historian, will talk about innovation and turning points in the history of art that manifested in print and graphic art.
Graphics of Western European Modernism.
When we talk about visual arts, innovations and turning points in art history are often easier to trace through paintings at the turn of the 19th and first half of the 20th century. However, during this time, graphics and drawing as such not only continued to be a supportive material for creating a painting, but also increasingly attracted attention as an independent form of art.
Many artists of well-known world movements experimented with print and graphic art. In the lecture, we will discuss the graphic works of Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georges Rouault, Wassily Kandinsky, Egon Schiele, Paul Klee, and Joan Miro.
