The transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco reshaped the visual landscape of the 20th century. Bold graphics and themes of speed, progress, and optimism defined this new era of modernity. Rangsook Yoon, PhD, leads a discussion on how these styles evolved through the golden age of illustration. Yoon serves as the Senior Curator at Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design. The presentation highlights iconic posters by A. M. Cassandre, Paul Colin, Charles Loupot, and Edward McKnight Kauffer. This lecture provides a historical counterpoint to the exhibition "Timeless Mucha: The Magic of Line" at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The Sarasota Art Museum exhibition, "Art Deco: The Golden Age of Illustration," offers further context for these works.
