Beavers are one of the most influential species in North America due to their ability to reshape floodplains to suit their needs. In doing so, beavers bring about changes that can make stream systems more resilient to drought, wildfires, and flooding while providing some of the most biologically rich habitats in the state.
In this talk, Torrey Ritter, nongame wildlife biologist and beaver expert, will recount his journey to becoming a beaver super-enthusiast while highlighting the immense impacts beavers can have on the ways water and sediment move across the landscape and what that means for Montana's ecosystems.
