CHAUTAUQUA PLAYHOUSE presents “Leaving Iowa”
Chautauqua Playhouse presents Leaving Iowa, a comedy Tim Clue and Spike Manton, beginning on April 19 at the Playhouse. The show will run through May 19. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm. The performances are held at the Chautauqua Playhouse, 5325 Engle Road in the La Sierra Community Center in Carmichael. Admission is $23 General, $21 Seniors/Students and SARTA members. Premium seating is an additional dollar. Tickets at the door are $25.
The story is a toast to the idealism and character of the now dubbed “greatest generation”, and a little roast of their undying dedication to the classic family road trip. More specifically, it is the story of Don Browning, a middle-aged writer, who returns home and decides to finally take his father's ashes to his childhood home, as requested. The family trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don's memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood. Leaving Iowa is a postcard to anyone who has ever found himself or herself driving alone on a road, revisiting fond memories of his or her youth.
The direction is by Steve Buri, with set and light design by Andrew Fiffick. The cast features Bill Zarriello, Georgann Wallace, Vannah Nettle, Tyler Anderson, Kevin Fitzgerald Borczk and Maureen Gaynor.
Information and tickets are available through the Chautauqua Playhouse website: www.cplayhouse.org or call the box office at (916) 489-7529, during business hours.
