From 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. visit McGill’s Rare Books and Special Collections for a tour through a selection of rare books from McGill’s Blacker Wood Natural history collection with curator Lauren Williams.
Then from 5 to 7 p.m. head outside with a hands-on foraging and braiding session. Starting at the Burnside Medicinal and Herbal garden, Forest and Nature School teacher Ingrid Birker will lead this event and honour the respectful protocol of sweetgrass picking and braiding as outlined in this downloadable ArcGIS StoryMap. After the braiding, participants will harvest a few herbs such as Oregano, Savoury and Sage from the Burnside patch, and then finish by finding the funky female Ginkgo fruit. Participants should bring their own food safe collecting bags.
Please RSVP to attend one session or both the indoor workshop and the outdoor foraging event. Note that the foraging portion will be an outdoor pedestrian walking tour, so please dress accordingly. All session will be held in English.
