Performance art is a genre where the artist’s and possibly others actions performed in front of an audience are essential to the artistic statement. It has its roots in the early 20th century avant-garde movements Futurism and Dadaism and was popularized in the 1960’s and 70’s when it was closely associated with body art, conceptual art, happenings and later with video art. During this session we will explore the history and trends in performance art.
