✨ Learning to Look is back this September!2025 marks the centennial of the first Surrealist exhibition. Learning to Look will take a deep dive into Surrealism with a series of lectures exploring different aspects of this influential movement. Available in person or on zoom! Before Surrealism: Before Surrealism, two movements shaped its vision. Symbolism, from the late 1800s, used allegory to explore inner emotions, with artists like Gauguin and Munch. Then came Dada, reacting to the chaos of World War I with spontaneity and irreverence. Many Dada artists including Duchamp, Ernst, and Man Ray went on to become Surrealism’s pioneers.
