The History Museum of Mobile’s Learning Lunch Program is on Wednesday, October 12, at 12pm and will feature local author and Architectural Historian, John Sledge. He will give a presentation on The Gulf of Mexico and its Blended Cultural Legacies, a look at the Gulf basin's fascinating and colorful mix of peoples, traditions, architecture, and music. The presentation will take place in the museum’s auditorium.
John S. Sledge is the architectural historian for the Mobile Historic Development Commission and a member of the National Book Critics Circle. He earned a bachelor's degree in History and Spanish from Auburn University and a master's degree in historic preservation from Middle Tennessee State University. Sledge is the author of several books on Mobile's historic architecture and history. His more recent works include, The Mobile River, a history and study of the economic impact on the Mobile River, and These Rugged Days: Alabama in the Civil War.
The History Museum of Mobile invites the general public to attend the free Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on an historical or cultural topic.
