The History Museum of Mobile will host a special Learning Lunch program on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 12pm. The program will feature Visiting Assistant Professor, Dr. Aiqi Liu, from the Department of History and Philosophy at the University of West Florida. The topic of his presentation is Sekigahara: The Campaign for The Great Peace. The topic of Dr. Liu’s presentation correlates to themes within the museum’s special changing exhibition, Samurai: Sunrise, Sunset.
Dr. Liu is a visiting assistant professor at the University of West Florida (UWF), teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Asian and U.S. History. Before coming to UWF, Dr. Liu taught Asian history at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Iowa, where he also taught Asian history as a graduate student. As a historian of Japan, China, and East Asia, Dr. Liu conducted archival research across Japan and China supported by the Nippon Foundation, the Association for Asian Studies, the Toshiba International Foundation, and the Japan Foundation.
The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free hour-long Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on a historical or cultural topic.
