Join us on Saturday, June 28th from 1 PM - 4 PM as we create Patriotic upcycled 2-in-1 folding picnic basket tables just in time to celebrate the 4th of July! All experience levels are welcome to participate.
Learn to paint on Patio Furniture!
In this 3-hour workshop, you will design using paint, transfers, stencils, and decoupage your own take-home Patriotic Picnic Table & Basket 2-in1 using upcycling skills, which you can then apply to any piece of furniture, using resin paint, decoupage, stenciling, furniture transfers, and finishing off with gold or silver gilding wax. A new, unused outdoor 2-in1 folding picnic table/basket will be provided with your workshop fee (See side table details and dimensions below), and a thoughtfully curated assortment of multiple Patriotic 4th of July-themed decoupage papers and stencils to choose from for application on your picnic basket & table. We'll be using Rethunk Junk by Laura® Furniture and Cabinet paint, which is an all-in-one acrylic paint that's infused with resin for added durability on your furniture makeover. No priming, sanding, or waxing required. Rethunk Junk by Laura® provides a buttery-smooth, satin finish. Water-based. Low VOC. This paint is safe to use on the patio side table and to be in contact with the elements, as it dries to a hard finish (unlike chalk paint, which needs wax to seal in the color and would not be ideal for outdoor contact). Three shades of Rethunk Junk furniture wax alternative "WASH" will be available to add depth and dimension: dark/antique, black, and white: WASH stands for Wax Alternative Hardener & Sealer and provides just a hint of color while also adding a layer of protection to your patio furniture makeover project. Gold and silver gilding wax alternatives (better for outdoor use) will be available to add extra brilliance and pizzazz. Aftercare: Learn how to care for and maintain your finished piece through the changing seasons once you get it home.
This class is all about artistic free expression. There is no wrong way to complete this fun art project. The skills learned in this workshop can be applied to any piece of furniture you want to give new life through upcycling. We love furniture art and are excited to share these skills and experiences with you!

Additional Information
Every attendee will leave with an outdoor 2-in-1 picnic table & basket of their own creation. This workshop is intended for ages 14 and up; under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
**REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SATURDAY, June 14TH**
Please message us with w/your preference for a decoupage image (animals, glamor faces, patterns, etc.) by June 14th to provide sufficient time to order that image. Or you can choose from a selection we will provide.

Location: Art studios in Sugar House.
These workshops will be limited to 10 participants per class. Additional workshops covering the same project can be duplicated if more than 10 people request participation.
*Dress in comfortable clothing that you're okay with getting paint on. Paint smocks will be available, and snacks and water will be provided. *Be prepared to take your picnic table with you once the class is out.

We use pre-order funds to purchase supplies and reserve space for the event. Because of this, online tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the event gets canceled by the venue, in which case a credit will be given to use towards a future event.
