Dive into the magical world of mermaiding and let your earthly worries fade away. Are you curious about what it’s like to swim in a mermaid tail? Maybe you’ve seen merfolk performing at an event or come across a news story about mermaiding on CNN, NBC, The Washington Post or WAMU. Join Netflix’s Mermaid Chè Monique, founder of the Society of Fat Mermaids, this winter for a 5 week introduction to mermaiding. Chè will guide you through the basics of mermaiding. We’ll start by learning the dolphin stroke to comfortably swim in your tail and each week we'll add a couple fun tricks. No tail required, we’ve got loaners for you to use during class.
By the end of our session you will be able to confidently swim in a mermaid tail and have an understanding of key safety practices for merfolk. You will have enough skills that you will be welcome at the local mermaid meetups.
This class is for people of all genders 16+ who want to experience the magic, fun, joy and freedom of being a merson. Mermaiding is a great workout that attracts fun people. Get exercise, make new friends and enjoy your weekly dose of whimsy.
